town in Canada. I graduated from an Early Childhood Education Program and continued my studies at Carleton University attaining my degree in English Literature. I believe education is a lifelong pursuit and am looking forward to assisting the M-Tel families to instill the same love of learning I have. I believe it takes a whole community to educate young children and am looking forward to working closely with the staff of the school. The administration, teaching assistances, office staff, cleaners and security guards make it possible for us all to work and learn together. The most important member of this team is you, the parents, you are the first teachers for your children and together we will all work hard to ensure your children are healthy, happy and learning. It takes all of us to ensure your child’s success. I look forward to both teaching and learning from your children and appreciate your trust in me with your most precious possession.

Teacher Don – Grade 2 & 3 English and Social
Hello everyone. My name is Don Snow and I am excited about this opportunity to join M-TEL International School. I am most excited

about teaching the grade 2 and 3 students whom I have already had the pleasure of meeting.
I graduated from the Honors Psychology Program at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada in 1998. I have been teaching ever since. I taught in Mexico for 9 years and then taught in Thailand for 8 years. I taught at an international school in Bangkok for 5 years. My final 2 years in Thailand were spent teaching English to students from Kindergarten to grade 5.
I feel I have had my greatest teaching success with young children for a number of reasons. Most importantly, I care about each child and the children recognize this by the way that I respond to their ideas, concerns and individual needs. Students also feel safe, comfortable and valued in my classroom because each child learns that regardless of our differences, all students are important members of the class and deserve respect. Many of these social skills are developed through teamwork activities where students are encouraged to support and take care of each other.
I have developed many techniques over the years that make learning activities fun and interesting. There is no reason why learning shouldn’t be fun; in fact all the evidence demonstrates that learning improves if the activities are fun and enjoyable.
Finally, the classroom environment also has a significant impact on the student’s motivation and ultimate success. I like to have a bright classroom full of daylight, and colorful walls, usually decorated with natural themes such as mountains, forests and realistic animals. I also play soft music when students arrive in the morning, during class transitions and break times. This is a proven method of relaxing students and setting a cooperative, pleasant, comfortable tone for the classroom.
I am currently enrolled in an online Master’s of Early Childhood Education program from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. It has been validating to learn that my teaching strategies match the current best practices being developed in educational psychology and the growing field of neuroscience.
It is a great pleasure to teach children and also a great responsibility. I know from experience that a little recognition and support from a teacher can have a lasting positive impact on a child. Nothing seems to be more motivating for a student than a teacher who believes in them. And that is what I try to do with every child I teach.

Picture4Teacher Justin – Grade 6 (All Subjects)
Hello, my name is Justin Holmes. I was born in the USA and graduated summa cum laude from the College of Charleston. Before I came to Cambodia, I had the pleasure of teaching English to

students in France and South Korea. Now I am thrilled to be in Cambodia teaching the Grade 6 class at M-Tel International School.

My top priority is creating a safe and effective learning environment for the students. I believe a safe environment comes from cultivating mutual respect between classmates and teachers as well as for the many different types of people we live and work with in the world. My idea of an effective learning environment is one that combines many different approaches in order to cater to the students’ various learning styles. I do this by utilizing language learning activities, group projects, engaging writing assignments, and daily conversation while at the same time incorporating the students’ many interests into the lessons. Students will have the opportunity to work individually, in pairs, and in groups while doing so.

I sincerely look forward to working with the students and teachers at M-Tel International School. With teamwork, integrity and a positive attitude, I am sure the students will have an educational and exciting school year that will prepare them for middle school as well as their bright futures.

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher INSPIRES.” -William Arthur
Hello everyone!

My name is Yroll R. Desamparado. Everyone calls me Teacher Yroll. I attended Our Lady of Fatima University in the Philippines where I earned my Bachelor degree in Nursing. Also, I have attained my TESOL (Teaching English to Speaker of Other Languages) Certification from Sovannaphumi School. I have learned that teaching alone is not enough, it must be a combination of “teaching” and “passion”. Teaching skill with passion towards young learners is the major key to produce excellent students.
Working in MTEL International School has given me the opportunity to share my knowledge to my student and to inspire them, because I believe that learning does not always come from the book, most of the time, it comes from the experience. Creating a “Home-Like” environment inside the classroom with additional combination of different teaching approach motivates my student to study harder. It also helped me to share my crafting skills and inspire them with my masterpiece cosplay costumes. I believe that bringing their creative imagination into real world is one of the best ways to motivate them to express their feelings and emotions.
I am glad to be a part of this institution which gives high quality education that produces highly educated and well-mannered students. There is no better time than today to encourage our gifted learners to shine. Therefore, as the bells continue to ring this year, please join us in producing incredible leaders of our future generation!
