PRESCHOOL 3 – 4 years old

In the Preschool Classroom the children are introduced to a class routine. The routine is flexible and is adjusted to meet the needs of the preschoolers.
The weekly themes in the Preschool class promote independence through child centered and teacher directed activities throughout the day. Self-help skills such as eating skills, potty training, hand washing, and independently cleaning up are among the skills taught in this class.
The age appropriate activities in this classroom promote taking turns, cooperating, sharing, and expressing feelings in appropriate manner.
This Preschool class also introduces students to circle time activities including recognizing alphabets, counting numbers, different color names, shapes, fruits, animals, story time, and songs.
In preparation for the JK class, the preschoolers work on their hand writing skills, specifically writing letter with the correct formation and write within the 3 lines. They also work on coloring within the line, recognizing things that start with each alphabet in their textbooks and introduction to phonics. This also gives each teacher the opportunity to work one-on-one with each student.
Each child is sent home with a daily homework sheet that allows the student to practice more on their coloring and hand writing skills with their parents.
