Does food exposed to yeast decompose at a different rate than food that isn’t?
One of the topics in our Grade 7 Science is about Understanding Life Systems. Students learn about ecosystems, transfer of energy in ecosystems and cycles in the environment. Students also learn about the roles of producers, consumers​ and decomposers within an ecosystem and the interactions among them. To make it more interactive, our teacher asked the students to do the experiment on decomposer to find out whether food exposed to yeast decompose at a different rate than food that isn’t?
They placed banana slices in two different Ziploc bags that has the same amount of water in it, then the yeast was added to one of the bag and one was not. They will observe the bags for a week and record their observations in the chart.
